<p style="color: blue; font-size: 20px;">  <i>

<i> Тема дня: коллекция «В поисках опасностей» </i> <br>
<br>
<br>

<i> Тема дня: коллекция «Болотные твари» </i> <br>

<i>  Тема дня: коллекция «Хищники мари» </i> <br>

<i>  Тема дня: коллекция «Водные духи» </i> <br>

<i>  Тема дня: коллекция «Сокровища трясины» </i>  <br>

🎩 DAY 2 — “MENTOR’S NOTE”
Found Item: Nat Pinkerton’s Hat — Dream Team Collection
By the next morning, the Detective’s Room looked less like an archive and more like a burglary committed by librarians.
Case files covered the desk.
Photographs covered the floor.
And Tara had created something on the wall involving red string.
John stared at it.
“What does any of that connect?”
“I’m still developing the theory.”
“So nothing.”
“Currently, nothing.”
At the other end of the room, DeNae opened another dusty evidence box.
“Found a hat.”
That stopped Oksana cold.
She turned.
Gray felt. Red band.
Laura read the faded tag attached to it.
NAT PINKERTON — DREAM TEAM.
Even Tara abandoned her string.
Pinkerton had been one of the famous detectives called in during the original investigation of Case #47. According to the files, he'd spent only three days on the case before leaving unexpectedly.
But inside the hatband, folded almost flat, was a piece of paper.
Lala carefully unfolded it.
Most of the writing was ordinary investigative shorthand—names, dates, evidence numbers.
Then Julie spotted one sentence.
Underlined twice.
THE ERROR IS NOT HIDDEN IN THE EVIDENCE.
THE ERROR IS HIDDEN IN THE CONCLUSIONS.
Nobody said anything for a moment.
Then John pulled yesterday’s file toward him.
“The Skilled Deceiver.”
The impossible alibi.
The library porter.
The leather document case.
The lie that practically begged to be discovered.
“What if Pinkerton noticed the same thing we did?” Laura asked.
Oksana nodded slowly.
“He wasn't telling future investigators to find more evidence.”
“He was telling them to stop trusting what the old investigators thought the evidence meant,” I said.
That was when Lala asked the question.
A very simple question.
“So... how do we know the diary was stolen?”
Tara pointed toward several boxes.
“Because there's approximately four thousand pages explaining who stole it.”
“No,” John said. “Those explain who they thought stole it.”
He began pulling reports from the pile.
Forced entry?
None.
Broken display case?
None.
Witness who actually saw someone take the diary?
None.
Security photograph?
None.
Inventory record proving precisely when it disappeared?
Even that was uncertain.
The room became very quiet.
For decades, detectives had asked:
Who stole the diary?
They had investigated suspects.
Motives.
Alibis.
Payments.
Escape routes.
But apparently nobody had stopped long enough to ask the question Nat Pinkerton had left waiting beneath a gray hat with a red band:
What evidence proved there had been a theft at all?
DeNae looked around the table.
“So what exactly are we investigating?”
Before anyone could answer, Oksana reached into the original evidence box.
“There is one thing.”
She placed a brittle envelope on the desk.
Across the front, someone had written:
PAYMENT — SUSPECT #4
Inside was a check.
Tara leaned closer.
“Well, that seems bad.”
John picked up the magnifying glass.
“After yesterday?”
He smiled.
“I wouldn't trust it yet.”
And just like that, Double D’s Guild had its next problem.
A check that had supposedly proved someone was paid to steal a diary...
from a crime we were no longer certain had ever happened. 🚨🔎

🎩 DETECTIVE’S ROOM: UNCLOSED CASE #47
LAURA’S STORY — DAY 2: “MENTOR’S NOTE”
Found Item: Nat Pinkerton’s Hat — Dream Team Collection
The next morning, the seven clocks in the Detective’s Room were still arguing.
Tara had decided the slowest one was the most trustworthy.
“It has nothing to gain by rushing us.”
John gave her a long look. “You’ve been thinking about this overnight?”
“Some mysteries stay with you.”
So did the Skilled Deceiver.
His photograph remained at the center of the desk, beside the image of the supposed traveler signing the library register with the wrong hand.
Julie was reconstructing the day of the donation ceremony. John examined the original photographs. Lala and I searched through old investigator files while Oksana reread the Skilled Deceiver’s statement.
DeNae opened a battered evidence cabinet.
“There’s a hat in here.”
It was gray felt with a faded red band. A small tag identified it:
NAT PINKERTON — DREAM TEAM
Pinkerton had been one of the most respected detectives to examine Case #47. According to the records, he left the investigation after only three days and never explained why.
Tara lifted the hat.
“Maybe it contains his brilliant final deduction.”
“It contains dust,” Lala said.
“And possibly his brilliant final deduction.”
Something crackled inside the lining.
DeNae carefully loosened one end of the hatband and pulled out a folded page covered in Pinkerton’s cramped handwriting.
Most of it listed evidence numbers and witness names. One sentence had been underlined twice:
THE ERROR IS NOT HIDDEN IN THE EVIDENCE.
THE ERROR IS HIDDEN IN THE CONCLUSIONS.
Below it, Pinkerton had written:
THE DIARY ARRIVED BEFORE THE TRAVELER DID.
Julie immediately reached for the library records.
The official ceremony began at four o’clock. Photographers documented the traveler entering the great hall, making a short speech and presenting his diary to the library director.
But the receiving ledger told a different story.
At nine that morning, seven hours before the ceremony, the library had accepted a sealed parcel containing the genuine diary.
John frowned. “Then what did he present at four?”
Julie checked the ceremony inventory.
“A leather case containing several display pages. The diary itself was already locked in the archive.”
Lala leaned back in her chair.
“So the grand donation ceremony did not include the actual donation.”
“It included a banner,” Tara said. “Never underestimate the importance of a banner.”
Oksana placed Pinkerton’s note beside the photograph from Day One.
“The public ceremony wasn’t necessary for the library,” she said. “It was necessary for the witnesses.”
A chill moved through me.
The reporters, the photographs and the crowded hall had established one fact in the city’s history:
The traveler was alive and present that afternoon.
But if the Skilled Deceiver had taken his place, the ceremony established nothing at all.
“Pinkerton suspected an impersonation,” DeNae said.
John nodded. “But he couldn’t prove where the real traveler was.”
“Or what had happened to him,” Julie added.
Tara began writing possibilities on the evidence board.
ESCAPED. ABDUCTED. MURDERED. SECRET MISSION.
Lala pointed to the last one. “You added that for yourself.”
“I’m maintaining investigative breadth.”
I looked again at Pinkerton’s note.
The old detectives had treated the ceremony as evidence that the traveler donated his diary shortly before his death.
Pinkerton had seen the same documents and reached a different question.
Not Who stole the diary?
Not even Who impersonated the traveler?
I picked up the photograph of the Skilled Deceiver.
“Why did they need everyone to believe the traveler was still in the city?”
Nobody answered.
Then Julie found another notation at the bottom of Pinkerton’s page:
CHECK ESTATE PAYMENTS AFTER DEATH.
DeNae searched the cabinet and removed a thin envelope marked:
FINANCIAL EVIDENCE — DISMISSED
Inside lay a check bearing the traveler’s signature.
The date was six months after his funeral.
Tara stared at it.
“Well,” she said, “either dead men can write checks…”
John held out his hand for the envelope.
“Or our clocks aren’t the only things in this room with the wrong time.”
Pinkerton’s hat sat beneath the green lamp, its secret finally uncovered.
The investigators had accepted the traveler’s public appearance, his death and the forged signature as three separate pieces of evidence.
But perhaps Pinkerton had been right.
The evidence had always been there.
The mistake was what everyone had concluded from it. 🔎

🎩 DAY 2 — THE MENTOR’S NOTE

Father Brown’s Gripsack

We found Father Brown’s Gripsack tucked behind an evidence box.

Inside was an old card.

One sentence:

“Do not ask which suspect fits the evidence. Ask whether the evidence actually fits the suspect.”

I stared at it.

Then at Oksana.

Then back at the card.

“That is extremely Oksana.”

Oksana smiled.

Again.

Suspicious.

Julie spread the case documents across the table.

“The original investigators decided very early that the diary was stolen.”

DeNae handed everyone sandwiches.

“And then interpreted everything after that as evidence of theft.”

Exactly.

They had investigated who stole it.

Nobody had stopped to ask…

Was it stolen at all?

My brain exploded into approximately seventeen directions.

“What if it was hidden? Misfiled? Secretly transported? Taken through an interdimensional portal?”

“Tara,” DeNae said.

“Yes?”

“Start with misfiled.”

Fine.

For now.

🎩 Father Brown’s advice:

Question the conclusion first. Evidence should create the theory—not be forced to support one.

That night, the two beautiful aliens appeared outside again.

One waved.

I waved back.

DeNae pulled the curtain closed.

“We have a case.”

“They might know something.”

“They are aliens.”

EXACTLY.”

📓✨ TARA’S HANDY DANDY NOTEBOOK
CASE #47 — DAY 2

END-OF-DAY NOTES

Today Father Brown basically told us:

Maybe stop trying to prove the answer you already decided was right.

Rude.

Also extremely useful.

The original detectives decided the diary had been stolen and then spent the rest of the investigation making every clue fit that theory.

Which means…

THE DIARY MAY NOT HAVE BEEN STOLEN.

Possible alternatives:

☐ Misfiled
☐ Hidden
☐ Secretly moved
☐ Accidentally transported
☐ Deliberately transported
☐ Interdimensional portal
☐ Aliens

DeNae says I am supposed to begin with misfiled.

I am beginning with misfiled.

I am not removing aliens.

Especially because the beautiful glowing ones came back tonight.

One waved at me.

I waved back.

DeNae closed the curtain.

This feels unnecessarily hostile toward potential witnesses.

Meanwhile, Rowen has been in the corner for the last twenty minutes attaching tiny sparkling gemstones to a magnifying glass.

I asked why.

Rowen said:

“Evidence deserves presentation.”

I cannot argue with this.

IMPORTANT LESSON OF THE DAY:

Do not force the evidence to fit your theory.

Change the theory.

Unless the theory is aliens.

Then maybe just keep it in the notebook until everyone else catches up.

✨ HANDY DANDY STATUS:
Case theory — officially exploded
Sandwiches — excellent
Aliens — still suspiciously beautiful
DeNae — still refusing to investigate them
Rowen — approximately 38% more sparkly than this morning

Tomorrow: We search the records.

And possibly the stars.

🕵 DAY 2 — DeNAE’S PERSPECTIVE
The Mentor’s Note

We found Father Brown’s gripsack behind an evidence box.

Which raises two questions.

First: How long had it been there?

Second: How many detectives had moved that evidence box without noticing a bag directly behind it?

I decided not to ask the second question out loud.

Inside was an old card with one sentence:

“Do not ask which suspect fits the evidence. Ask whether the evidence actually fits the suspect.”

Tara read it twice.

Then she looked at Oksana.

Then back at the card.

“That is extremely Oksana.”

Oksana smiled.

I do not know why Oksana smiling makes everything feel more suspicious, but it does.

Julie spread the old case documents across the table.

“The original investigators decided very early that the diary was stolen.”

I handed everyone sandwiches because apparently I am both detective and field catering.

“And once they decided that,” I said, “everything afterward became evidence of theft.”

Tara’s eyes lit up.

This is usually where things become complicated.

“So maybe it wasn’t stolen.”

“Yes.”

“Maybe it was hidden.”

“Possible.”

“Misfiled.”

“Yes.”

“Secretly transported.”

“Fine.”

“Interdimensional portal.”

“No.”

She stared at me.

I stared back.

“Tara. Start with misfiled.”

She sighed like I had crushed the very spirit of scientific discovery.

“Fine.”

I know my sister.

“Are you removing aliens from the list?”

“No.”

Of course not.

Still, Father Brown’s point mattered.

We had been working inside someone else’s assumption.

The original investigators had asked:

Who stole the diary?

They should have asked:

What actually happened to the diary?

That is a very different investigation.

And I hate admitting this, but Tara’s ridiculous list was useful.

Not the portal.

Not the aliens.

The rest of it.

Probably.

Later that night, the glowing visitors appeared outside again.

Tara immediately went to the window.

One of them waved.

Tara waved back.

I closed the curtain.

“We have a case.”

“They might know something.”

“They are aliens.”

EXACTLY.”

I left the curtain closed.

Across the room, Rowen was decorating a magnifying glass with tiny gemstones.

I watched for several seconds.

“Rowen.”

“Yes?”

“What are you doing?”

“Improving it.”

“It’s investigative equipment.”

“Exactly.”

Apparently evidence now requires accessories.

I have stopped fighting certain battles.

📗 DeNAE’S PLANNER & BUDGET
CASE #47 — DAY 2

TODAY’S PRIORITIES

☑ Review Father Brown’s note
☑ Reconsider original theft theory
☑ Identify alternative explanations
☑ Begin with misfiled
☑ Feed detectives
☑ Prevent Tara from interviewing extraterrestrials
☑ Close curtain
☐ Convince Tara that “alien witness” is not a recognized investigative category
☐ Convince Rowen that magnifying glasses do not require gemstones

CASE NOTES

Original assumption:
The diary was stolen.

Problem:
Every clue was interpreted through that assumption.

Revised question:
What happened to the diary?

Reasonable possibilities:

☐ Misfiled
☐ Hidden
☐ Moved intentionally
☐ Moved accidentally

Tara’s additional possibilities:

☐ Interdimensional portal
☐ Aliens

Those remain in a separate category entitled:

Things I Am Not Discussing Yet.

CASE NOTES

Coffee — $9.25
Sandwiches — $18.40
Archive supplies — $7.15
Emergency chocolate — $6.75
Replacement evidence folders — $8.60
Gemstones for investigative equipment — DENIED
Interdimensional portal research — STILL DENIED

DAY 2 TOTAL: $50.15

END-OF-DAY JOURNAL

Father Brown reminded us of something embarrassingly simple today:

A conclusion is not evidence.

Once you decide what happened, it becomes very easy to make everything else prove you right.

So tomorrow we stop looking for a thief.

We look for a diary.

There is a difference.

Tara appears pleased with this development because it technically leaves aliens on the table.

I appear tired because technically it leaves aliens on the table.

Rowen’s magnifying glass now sparkles when it catches the light.

Julie has reorganized half the documents.

Oksana is still smiling like she knows something the rest of us do not.

And the curtain is staying closed.

Tomorrow’s first task: Search the records for anything misfiled, moved, renamed, or overlooked.

Preferably on Earth

🚨 DAY 3 — THE INCONVENIENT CHECK

The Forged Check

The Forged Check ruined everything.

Which is exactly what good evidence is supposed to do.

The old theory said the Skilled Deceiver bribed a library employee on the night the diary disappeared.

The proof?

A check supposedly written that evening.

Julie studied it.

DeNae studied the numbers.

I studied it dramatically with a magnifying glass.

Then DeNae said:

“This account didn’t exist yet.”

Silence.

The bank account printed on the check had been opened three weeks after the diary disappeared.

“Ohhhhhh.”

There was my noise again.

The check hadn’t documented the crime.

Someone had created it later to make the crime look solved.

Rowen fell backward into a pile of glitter.

“FAKE MONEY PAPER!”

Pretty much.

🚨 Why did the check change everything?

Because it was impossible for the check to have existed on the date investigators claimed. Someone had manufactured evidence after the diary vanished.

That meant our liar from Day 1 might not have been covering up a theft.

He might have been covering up something else entirely.

And someone, somewhere, had wanted investigators looking in the wrong direction.

I added three underlines beneath:

WHY?

Then one more:

ALIENS?

Julie crossed that one out.

Rude.

📓✨ HANDY DANDY NOTEBOOK — DAY 3

CLUE: Impossible check.

PROBLEM:
You cannot write a check from an account that DOES NOT EXIST YET.

I checked.

Time travel remains unsupported.

Julie was unnecessarily pleased about this.

TARA THEORY BOARD:

☑ Check forged
☑ Evidence planted
☑ Original investigation manipulated
☐ Skilled Deceiver = thief
☑ Somebody wanted him to LOOK like the thief

Which leaves one extremely annoying question:

WHY?

Rowen’s answer: “CONSPIRACY.”

Mine:

…also conspiracy.

⭐ HANDY DANDY RULE #49:
When evidence is impossible, don’t fix your theory.

Fix your theory about the evidence.

🕵 DAY 3 — DeNAE’S PERSPECTIVE

The Inconvenient Check

The check was supposed to prove the Skilled Deceiver bribed a library employee the night the diary disappeared.

It did not.

What it proved was that somebody involved in the original investigation either had a serious problem with calendars or expected no one to look too closely.

Julie handed me the check.

I checked the date.

Then the account number.

Then the bank records.

Then I checked them again because Tara was hovering over my shoulder making increasingly dramatic detective noises.

The account had been opened three weeks after the diary disappeared.

I looked at Tara.

“This account didn’t exist yet.”

She froze.

Then came the inevitable:

“Ohhhhhh.”

I have now learned that Tara’s “ohhhhhh” can mean several things.

Today it meant:

Someone has made a very large mistake, and Tara is delighted about it.

Julie leaned over the records.

“So the check was created later.”

“Yes.”

“To make it look like the Skilled Deceiver paid someone.”

“Yes.”

Tara was already halfway across the room toward the theory board.

CONSPIRACY.”

“That was Rowen,” I said.

Rowen, who had somehow acquired an alarming quantity of glitter, threw both arms into the air.

CONSPIRACY!”

Tara pointed at him.

“See? Independent confirmation.”

“That is not what independent confirmation means.”

Oksana smiled.

I ignored that.

There are days when Oksana’s smile feels less like an expression and more like advance notice.

I went back through the evidence.

The problem was no longer simply whether the Skilled Deceiver had lied.

We already knew he had.

The question was why.

If the check was fabricated after the diary disappeared, then someone had deliberately created evidence to support the original theft theory.

Which meant the original investigation had not merely been wrong.

It may have been directed.

That is a considerably less comfortable conclusion.

Tara wrote WHY? on the board and underlined it three times.

Then she wrote:

ALIENS?

Julie crossed it out before Tara finished the question mark.

Tara looked personally wounded.

“For the record,” I said, “I support Julie’s decision.”

Outside the window, the glowing visitors appeared again.

Bright blue. Purple. Gold. Sparkling like someone had given a galaxy access to a jewelry counter.

Tara slowly turned toward me.

I closed the curtain.

“We are investigating financial records.”

“But—”

“Financial. Records.”

Rowen whispered, “They could know banking.”

I made a note to reduce his sugar intake.

By the end of the evening, we had one solid conclusion:

The check was forged.

The evidence was planted.

And whoever planted it had wanted investigators to believe the case was already solved.

Which means tomorrow we stop asking:

Who stole the diary?

And start asking:

Who needed everyone to believe the Skilled Deceiver did?

That is a much better question.

Unfortunately, Tara also added:

Who has access to time travel?

I erased it.

She put it back.

We are currently at an impasse.

📗 DeNAE’S PLANNER & BUDGET

CASE #47 — DAY 3

TODAY’S PRIORITIES

☑ Verify check date
☑ Verify account number
☑ Confirm bank account opening date
☑ Establish check could not have existed on alleged crime date
☑ Reclassify check as planted evidence
☑ Reconsider motive for original investigation
☑ Stop Tara from treating “time travel” as a banking irregularity
☑ Close curtain on aliens
☑ Remove glitter from financial records
☐ Determine where Rowen is obtaining glitter
☐ Determine whether confiscating glitter would actually make things worse

📝

CASE NOTES

Original claim:
Skilled Deceiver bribed library employee.

Supporting evidence:
Check dated night diary disappeared.

Problem:
Account opened three weeks later.

Conclusion:
Check forged after the fact.

Practical implication:
Someone manufactured evidence to make the Skilled Deceiver look guilty.

New investigative question:
Who benefited from the original case being “solved”?

Tara’s investigative question:
“Could aliens open bank accounts?”

Status:
Not currently pursuing.

💰

CASE EXPENSES

Coffee — $9.25
Lunch — $21.60
Archive copies — $6.40
Bank record retrieval — $12.00
Replacement evidence folders after glitter incident — $8.75
Emergency chocolate — $7.10
Industrial glitter containment system — RESEARCHING
Alien financial-consulting fee — DENIED

DAY 3 TOTAL: $65.10

Budget note:
The investigation remains within acceptable limits.

[/b] Rowen does not.[/b]

📖

📓 END-OF-DAY JOURNAL

Today changed the case.

Until now, I was willing to believe the original investigators simply made assumptions and followed them too far.

People do that.

They decide what happened first and then notice only the evidence that agrees with them.

But a forged check is different.

A forged check requires effort.

Someone had to create it.

Someone had to know what story it needed to support.

Someone had to place it where investigators would find it.

That is not carelessness.

That is planning.

And planning means motive.

Tara is excited.

Julie is concerned.

Oksana looks like she expected this.

Rowen has officially named the situation “THE CONSPIRACY OF THE FAKE MONEY PAPER.”

I told him that title will not appear in the official file.

He made his own file.

It has stars on it. ✨💫

Tomorrow we start looking at everyone who benefited when the Skilled Deceiver became the obvious suspect.

That list should tell us more than the check ever did.

Assuming Tara does not interview the aliens first.

I have hidden the binoculars.

https://upforme.ru/uploads/0019/3c/8c/7219/t954390.pngJour 3 Un chèque gênant
Guilde Au Manoir Born

Merci 🥰
