🧺🌸 DAY FOUR — THE PICNIC THAT STOPPED TIME 🌸🧺

Location: The Secret Meadow
Discovery: Picnic Set — Picnic in Nature Collection

By our fourth day in ancient Japan, I had reached a very important conclusion.

WE WERE NO LONGER LEADING THIS EXPEDITION.

The garden spirits were.

Tiny bells rang whenever we approached the correct path. Flowers floated through the air to mark turns. Occasionally, an invisible hand gently redirected us away from a dead end.

It was rather like having an enchanted navigation system.

Except ours giggled.

And sometimes threw acorns.

John had finally stopped arguing with the moving hedges.

Mostly.

"There's still a logical explanation," he insisted.

"Absolutely," I agreed. "MAGIC."

Julie smiled.

"I think the garden is beginning to trust us."

Then, just beyond an arch of flowering vines, the hedges opened onto an enormous hidden meadow.

A clear stream wound through soft green grass. Cherry trees stretched their branches over a beautiful clearing, and delicate butterflies danced above the flowers.

At its center sat a magnificent picnic basket filled with bread, fruit, cheese, and carefully wrapped treats.

WE HAD DISCOVERED THE PICNIC SET FROM THE PICNIC IN NATURE COLLECTION!

DeNae gasped.

I have never seen my sister so emotionally moved by wicker.

"A proper picnic basket! FINALLY!"

Before anyone could object, she had organized the entire clearing.

Julie arranged flowers beside the blanket.

Oksana poured tea from a delicate Japanese teapot that seemed to have appeared from nowhere.

Lala claimed the most comfortable cushion.

John carefully removed his samurai swords and sat beneath a cherry tree.

"At last," he said. "A reasonable activity."

Rowan produced a tiny enchanted parasol and settled onto a mushroom.

Naturally, I insisted upon giving a speech.

"My beloved guild family, we have traveled through time, defeated confusing shrubbery, befriended ancient spirits, and survived John's repeated attempts to explain away magic."

"Nobody defeated shrubbery," John replied.

"PLEASE DON'T INTERRUPT THE CEREMONY."

DeNae handed me a rice cake.

"Eat something."

While we enjoyed our picnic, dozens of tiny garden spirits appeared.

They brought us little gifts.

A string of flowers for Julie.

A perfectly round stone for John.

A miniature goblet for Lala.

An extraordinary glowing blossom for Oksana.

A tiny woven snack basket for DeNae.

And for Rowan?

A sparkling crown made entirely of leaves.

He immediately declared himself:

LORD ROWAN, SUPREME SPARKLE GOBLIN OF THE ENCHANTED HEDGE KINGDOM.

Unfortunately, he demanded a royal tribute of desserts.

DeNae refused.

A diplomatic crisis nearly followed.

Then something astonishing happened.

The entire labyrinth stopped moving.

No shifting paths.

No disappearing arches.

No bells.

Only the peaceful sound of the stream.

For the first time, the garden was completely still.

And in that stillness, the Pleiadian princesses appeared beside me.

One placed a gentle hand upon my shoulder.

"Hanako spent her life waiting for tomorrow," she whispered. "Tomorrow he would return. Tomorrow she would be happy. Tomorrow she could finally rest."

The other princess continued.

"But tomorrow kept taking today away from her."

A vision shimmered before me.

Hanako had grown old beneath the cherry trees.

She still held the letter.

But she was no longer crying.

Instead, she was smiling as she watched children laughing in her garden.

I understood.

"She built this place so nobody would lose their life waiting for something that might never happen."

Oksana looked at me thoughtfully.

"Sometimes the greatest treasure is learning to enjoy the moment we're living."

For once, I had nothing sarcastic to add.

Then Rowan sneezed.

POOF!

Every single cherry blossom in the meadow turned purple.

Lala stared at him.

"Well, there goes the spiritual enlightenment."

HANDY DANDY JOURNAL — DAY FOUR CONCLUSIONS:

1. Magical picnics should be mandatory.
2. DeNae has found her true calling as an interdimensional caterer.
3. Rowan is now royalty, according to Rowan.
4. The labyrinth becomes still when we stop trying to conquer it.
5. Hanako's treasure may have nothing to do with gold.

Tomorrow, we search for the heart of the labyrinth.

But tonight, we're sitting beneath the stars.

And nobody is in a hurry.

🌸 TO BE CONTINUED... 🌸

💚 DAY FOUR — THE PICNIC THAT ALMOST STARTED A WAR
Ancient Japan — Beneath the Cherry Blossom Trees

I have always believed that difficult situations improve dramatically when everyone has something to eat.

Unfortunately, our group had been surviving on enchanted apples, mysterious tea, and Tara's endless enthusiasm.

This was unacceptable.

"We're having a picnic," I announced.

Tara blinked.

"DeNae, we're supposed to be solving Hanako's mystery."

"And we'll solve it much better after lunch. I refuse to negotiate with supernatural entities on an empty stomach."

For once, everyone agreed with me.

Especially John.

We found a beautiful clearing overlooking a tranquil pond. Cherry blossoms drifted through the air, koi moved beneath the water, and an ancient wooden bridge curved gracefully toward a small island.

Julie and Oksana discovered an exquisite old picnic chest beneath a flowering tree.

Inside were lacquered dishes, delicate teacups, a beautiful woven cloth, and a scroll tied with faded silk.

Our fourth discovery: Picnic Set.

"See?" I announced. "Even ancient Japan recognizes the importance of a proper meal."

Lala immediately began arranging everything.

John prepared the seating.

The fairies decorated the branches with tiny sparkling lights.

Rowan volunteered to provide entertainment.

"No," I said.

"You haven't even heard my proposal!"

"Experience is an excellent teacher."

We enjoyed rice balls, fresh fruit, and little Japanese sweets while Tara studied the scroll.

It described a farewell meal prepared long ago for someone Hanako loved.

A meal that had never been shared.

My heart softened.

"Perhaps this picnic wasn't meant for us," I said quietly.

The air suddenly grew cold.

Across the pond, Hanako appeared beneath a flowering tree.

She wasn't frightening this time.

She looked lonely.

I carefully placed a cup of tea and several ripe apples at an empty place beside us.

"Hanako," I called gently, "there's always room for one more at our table."

The entire garden went silent.

Then Hanako smiled.

A single tear slipped down her cheek.

The ancient scroll began to glow, revealing the final path through the labyrinth.

Tara squeezed my hand.

"That was beautiful, DeNae."

"Thank you. Now please tell me we've finally earned a peaceful afternoon."

At that exact moment, Rowan accidentally knocked over a ceremonial lantern.

John lunged to catch it.

Lala shrieked.

The fairies scattered.

And Tara yelled, "EVERYBODY SAVE THE PICNIC!"

Somehow, the lantern landed safely.

The food survived.

My dignity was another matter entirely.

Hanako's heart was beginning to heal. Our group, unfortunately, remained a public safety concern.

DeNae's Handy Dandy Journal: Day four. Organized successful picnic. Comforted ancient spirit. Nearly lost lunch to sparkle goblin. Recommend mandatory table manners before any future time-travel expeditions.

🌸 DAY 5 — AFTER HER TEA
Found item: Inflatable Tent — “Garden Rest” collection
Guild: Double D’s Guild
The exit appeared before breakfast.
Beside it, a narrow path curved beneath flowering branches.
Leah looked at the road.
Then she looked at us.
“A little longer?”
Nobody reached for their bags.
The other path led to an old tree, a wooden seat, and a single bell. Beneath the seat lay a weathered plaque.
Oksana brushed away the leaves.
Hanako will return after her tea.
Lala glanced around the garden.
“That must have been excellent tea.”
Leah laughed, but I kept looking at the empty seat.
Someone had swept beneath it. Fresh flowers stood in a small cup.
Our little guardian waited beside them.
We set up the inflatable tent under the tree. John secured it, DeNae arranged the blankets, and Leah rolled the entrance wide open.
I placed the apple seed in the guardian’s hand.
“Will you plant it for us?”
It pressed the seed into the earth beside Hanako’s seat.
A shoot rose.
Two leaves unfolded.
Then the air beneath the tree shimmered.
For one brief moment, an elderly woman sat on the wooden seat, her tea cupped between her hands.
She looked at the guardian resting beside our tent.
Her smile deepened.
The bell rang once.
When the light faded, the seat was empty again.
Leah lay back against the cushions.
We stayed until the little apple tree cast its first patch of shade.

🌸 DAY 5 — WE’RE NOT PACKING YET
Found item: Inflatable Tent — “Garden Rest” collection
Guild: Double D’s Guild
We found the exit.
Then Leah spotted another path.
This is how Double D’s Guild remains unavailable for sensible appointments.
The path ended beneath an old tree, beside a worn seat and one hanging bell.
“Hanako’s place,” Oksana said softly.
Leah settled onto the seat.
I unpacked the inflatable tent.
John looked at me.
“We can see the road.”
“Yes. It will be easy to find later.”
He helped me put it up.
DeNae arranged the picnic leftovers. Julie opened the entrance toward the flowers. Tara crawled inside to investigate and promptly declared the cushions suitable for extended research.
I lay down beside her.
Outside, Leah’s voice grew drowsy.
For a while, there was only the rustle of leaves.
Then something scratched at the tent.
A tiny guardian stood at the entrance holding a petal.
Behind it waited another.
And another.
“Come in,” I whispered.
They settled along the edge of the blanket. The smallest climbed into my open palm.
Tara fell asleep first.
She snored.
Very gently, a blue guardian raised one hand.
Outside, the bell rang the same note.
Tara snored again.
The bell answered.
Julie pressed her face into a cushion. John turned away, shoulders shaking.
Then every flower beneath Hanako’s tree opened at once.
Leah looked around at us, smiling.
We stayed another hour.
Tara wanted to know what she’d missed.
“Nothing,” I said. “You were magnificent.”

🌸 DAY 5 — SAVE ME A PLACE
Found item: Inflatable Bed — “Garden Rest” collection
Guild: Double D’s Guild — Mad’s version
The exit appeared before breakfast.
After four days of moving hedges, this felt suspiciously efficient.
Beside it, a smaller path disappeared beneath flowering branches.
Leah looked at me.
We took the smaller path.
At its end stood an old tree, a worn seat, and one bell.
Someone had spent many afternoons here. The arm of the seat was smooth where a hand had rested.
“Hanako,” Leah whispered.
I unpacked the Inflatable Bed.
It took enough pumping to qualify as the day’s hike.
We settled beneath the tree with the Checkered Blanket across our knees. Through the branches, sunlight touched the worn seat.
I thought of all the beautiful places I’d visited and the friends I’d wished were beside me.
“I’d bring everyone here,” I said.
Leah leaned against my shoulder.
Dusk gathered, though I could have sworn it was still morning.
Then a little light appeared beneath a leaf.
Another followed.
All around us, tiny guardians emerged carrying lanterns. They hung them low in the branches, carefully adjusting each one until warm light fell across the seat, our blanket, and Leah’s sleepy face.
Nobody hurried away.
I left my phone in my bag.
When we finally packed, one small lantern remained unlit beside the seat.
“Is that for someone?” I asked.
The bell stirred.
I touched the blue flower still tucked in my hair.
“All right,” I said. “Save me a place.”
At the gate, Leah brushed a petal from my shoulder.
I caught it before it fell.
Then we stepped through.

⛺🌸 DAY FIVE — THE TENT AT THE HEART OF TIME 🌸⛺

Location: The Heart of Hanako's Labyrinth
Discovery: Inflatable Tent — Garden Rest Collection

Our fifth morning began with a mystery.

John was missing.

So were his samurai swords.

Naturally, I assumed the worst.

HE HAD BEEN RECRUITED INTO AN ANCIENT SAMURAI ARMY!

Lala rolled her eyes.

"Or he went for a walk."

We discovered him ten minutes later beside the stream, practicing careful sword movements beneath a cherry tree.

I stopped dead.

"JOHN! THAT IS INCREDIBLY ATTRACTIVE SAMURAI BEHAVIOR!"

He nearly dropped his sword.

"Would you please stop shouting?"

"Not a chance."

Julie watched his movements approvingly.

"He's getting quite good."

DeNae handed him breakfast.

"Try not to dislocate anything. We're several centuries away from modern hospitals."

With everyone accounted for, we followed a quiet pathway toward the center of the labyrinth.

For the first time, nothing moved.

The hedges remained still.

The bells were silent.

At a crossroads, we discovered an old wooden gate.

Beyond it lay a dusty road.

THE EXIT!

"We made it!" Lala cried.

But beside the gate was another path, almost hidden beneath flowering vines.

And at its entrance stood a tiny fairy holding a glowing purple petal.

She looked directly at me.

"One more place, Tara. Hanako is waiting."

I turned to the others.

"We aren't finished."

John sighed.

"Of course we aren't."

We followed the hidden trail until we reached an ancient cherry tree standing alone in a beautiful circular garden.

Its trunk was enormous, its blossoms shimmered like moonlight, and beneath its branches stood a weathered wooden bench.

Beside the bench was a curious bundle wrapped in silk.

Rowan examined it.

"Interesting! A portable shelter!"

Before anyone could stop him, he pressed a tiny golden valve.

WHOOOOOOOSH!

The bundle exploded outward into an enormous colorful inflatable tent.

Straight into John's back.

THUMP!

Our magnificent samurai landed in a flower bed.

Lala doubled over laughing.

"DEFEATED BY CAMPING EQUIPMENT!"

WE HAD FOUND THE INFLATABLE TENT FROM THE GARDEN REST COLLECTION!

DeNae inspected the tent.

"At least we finally have somewhere comfortable to rest."

Julie noticed something unusual embroidered along its edge.

A cherry blossom.

A crescent moon.

And five stars.

The same symbols from the orchard.

As we arranged the tent beneath the ancient tree, the garden filled with soft golden light.

The fairies emerged from the blossoms.

The tiny guardians gathered around us.

And the two celestial princesses appeared before me, brighter than ever.

This time, their radiance became so strong that even John noticed a strange shimmer in the air.

"Now THAT," he whispered, "is unusual."

I smiled.

"Welcome to my world."

The ancient tree began to glow.

Before us appeared the spirit of a beautiful Japanese woman dressed in a pale pink kimono.

Hanako.

Her eyes were gentle, and she held a small folded letter.

"Long ago," she said, "I loved a samurai who promised to return when the cherry blossoms bloomed."

"He never came back?" I whispered.

She shook her head.

"For many years, I waited. I counted the seasons. I watched the roads. I forgot to enjoy the garden, the birds, the sunshine, and the people who loved me."

Her spirit looked around at our gathered family.

"One spring, I finally understood. I could not command time, and I could not change the past. But I could decide how to live the days still given to me."

She smiled.

"So I created this labyrinth. Not to imprison visitors, but to remind them that life is not a race toward the next destination."

I felt tears sting my eyes.

Hanako raised her hand, and five glowing cherry blossoms floated toward us.

"The greatest treasure I leave is this: Never become so busy searching for tomorrow that you forget to live today."

My Handy Dandy Journal opened by itself.

Across its pages, glowing golden letters appeared.

THE TREASURE OF HANAKO'S LABYRINTH IS TIME FREELY ENJOYED, LOVE FREELY GIVEN, AND THE COURAGE TO REST WITHOUT GUILT.

For a beautiful moment, nobody spoke.

Not even Rowan.

Then the ancient spirit turned toward him.

"And you, little one..."

Rowan straightened proudly.

"Yes, Your Enchanted Majesty?"

"Please stop pressing mysterious buttons."

We all burst out laughing.

HANDY DANDY JOURNAL — DAY FIVE CONCLUSIONS:

1. Hanako's treasure was never gold.
2. Rest is not a reward we must earn.
3. Love, friendship, and shared moments are priceless.
4. John has survived ancient Japan, supernatural encounters, and an inflatable tent.
5. Rowan has officially been reprimanded by a centuries-old spirit.

And tomorrow... we go home.

Probably.

Assuming Rowan hasn't found another button.

🌸🏮 EPILOGUE — FIVE DAYS, FIVE GIFTS, AND ONE LAST SPARKLE 🏮🌸

The Final Entry in Tara's Handy Dandy Journal

We left Hanako's Labyrinth beneath a shower of pink cherry blossoms.

The garden spirits accompanied us to the gate, their tiny footprints appearing along the path.

The fairies fluttered overhead.

And somewhere among the highest branches, two beautiful celestial princesses watched over us.

Only I could see their faces.

But I knew the others could feel their presence.

Even John.

Especially John.

As we approached the wooden gate, Hanako's spirit appeared one final time.

She bowed gracefully.

"May you always find your way home," she whispered. "And may you remember that sometimes the most important journey is the one you take without hurrying."

We bowed in return.

DeNae left a small wrapped sweet beneath the cherry tree.

Julie placed a beautiful flower beside the shrine.

Lala blew the fairies a kiss.

Oksana offered a quiet prayer of gratitude.

John gave Hanako the respectful bow of a samurai.

Rowan sprinkled one final handful of magical stardust across the garden.

And I?

I left behind a tiny purple jewel from my tinfoil tiara.

"For the next adventurer," I whispered.

The moment we stepped through the gate, the world shifted.

Golden light surrounded us.

The ancient road vanished.

The lanterns disappeared.

And suddenly...

THUMP!

We landed back inside the Mystery Manor library.

Exactly where we had started.

The clock on the wall showed that only five minutes had passed.

FIVE MINUTES!

We had spent five entire days in ancient Japan, and the modern world hadn't even noticed we were gone.

John examined the clock.

"That is scientifically impossible."

I grinned.

"AND YET HERE WE ARE!"

Our beautiful kimonos were gone, replaced by our ordinary clothes.

John's magnificent samurai armor had vanished.

Lala looked disappointed.

"That's a shame. I rather liked him with the swords."

"So did I!" I agreed.

John pretended not to hear us.

DeNae opened her bag.

Inside were three perfectly ripe Japanese apples.

"Well," she announced, "at least somebody packed souvenirs."

Julie discovered a tiny silver bell tucked into her pocket.

Oksana found a pressed cherry blossom resting inside her notebook.

Lala discovered that one of the garden spirits had tied a miniature flower bracelet around her wrist.

And Rowan?

He was still wearing his crown of leaves.

LORD ROWAN HAD RETURNED.

Unfortunately, so had his desire to touch things.

"Look!" he cried.

Inside the ancient lacquered box, the golden button was glowing again.

Everyone froze.

John pointed at him.

"NO."

DeNae pointed at him.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT."

Julie shook her head.

"Let's investigate it first."

Lala folded her arms.

"If that thing sends us into another century before happy hour, I'm resigning."

Oksana smiled mysteriously.

"I believe another adventure is already waiting."

Rowan looked at me.

I looked at Rowan.

Two brilliant minds.

One glowing button.

Absolutely no supervision.

WE GRINNED.

"Don't even THINK about it!" DeNae warned.

I slowly opened my Handy Dandy Journal and wrote one final entry.

HANAKO'S LABYRINTH — MISSION COMPLETE!

🌿 DAY ONE: Discovered the Swings for Two and learned that the garden opens its paths when we stop rushing.

🍎 DAY TWO: Found the Ripe Apples and followed their magical clues toward Hanako's hidden history.

🧿 DAY THREE: Found the Gohei Wand, befriended the frightened garden guardians, and uncovered the story of Hanako's lost samurai.

🧺 DAY FOUR: Discovered the Picnic Set, shared a beautiful afternoon with our magical friends, and watched the labyrinth finally become still.

⛺ DAY FIVE: Found the Inflatable Tent, reached the heart of the garden, and discovered Hanako's greatest treasure.

THE LESSON:

Life isn't measured by how quickly we reach the destination, but by the love, laughter, friendship, and beautiful moments we collect along the way.

And so ended our extraordinary journey through ancient Japan.

Five unforgettable days.

One enchanted labyrinth.

A samurai who got knocked over by a tent.

A sparkle goblin who became royalty.

A practical older sister who saved us all from starvation.

And a guild family that proved, once again, that the greatest adventures are the ones we share together.

I closed my journal.

Then turned toward Rowan.

"Ready?"

His eyes sparkled.

"Always!"

CLICK.

From somewhere across the library, John's voice thundered:

"TARAAAAAA!"

✨ THE END... OR PERHAPS JUST THE BEGINNING! ✨

With love, laughter, questionable decisions, and an unreasonable amount of sparkle,
Tara and the Entire Magical Guild Family

💚 DAY FIVE — THE INFLATABLE TENT OF ABSOLUTE NONSENSE
Ancient Japan — The Heart of Hanako's Labyrinth

On our fifth day in ancient Japan, I made a very reasonable request.

"I would like to return home with all my limbs, my dignity, and preferably the same number of people we arrived with."

Tara assured me everything would be fine.

Naturally, this was followed by the discovery of an inflatable tent.

An INFLATABLE TENT.

In ancient Japan.

I stared at it.

"Tara, explain."

"Magic?"

"That is NOT an explanation."

Rowan proudly announced that he had found it tucked inside an enchanted traveling chest.

Apparently, it was a portable shelter created through a combination of mysterious magic and technology that absolutely did not belong in this century.

Our fifth discovery: Inflatable Tent.

"Wonderful," I muttered. "We've invented magical camping."

We carried it into the heart of Hanako's Labyrinth, where twisting stone pathways and towering bamboo surrounded an ancient shrine.

The fairies formed a protective circle while Oksana studied the final inscription.

Julie connected the clues.

The swings had revealed the hidden path.

The apples had reminded Hanako of kindness.

The Gohei Wand had uncovered her sorrow.

And our picnic had welcomed her back into the warmth of friendship.

Now we needed a sanctuary where she could finally release the past.

The tent began to inflate.

And inflate.

And inflate.

"ROWAN!" I yelled.

"I may have enhanced it slightly!"

"SLIGHTLY?! IT'S BIGGER THAN THE SHRINE!"

John grabbed one side. Lala and Julie grabbed the other. Oksana directed the fairies to stabilize the magical structure.

Tara stood in the middle giving instructions.

Of course she did.

Finally, the tent settled into a beautiful pavilion glowing beneath the moonlight.

The mysterious princesses appeared around Tara, their shimmering light combining with the fairy magic.

Hanako stepped from the shadows.

For a moment, she looked frightened.

I walked forward holding the Gohei Wand.

"Hanako, you don't have to keep guarding a broken promise. You can remember the love without carrying the pain forever."

Tara joined me.

Together, we offered Hanako the final apples and invited her into the glowing sanctuary.

A brilliant wave of light swept through the labyrinth.

The stone walls dissolved into flowering trees.

The darkness disappeared.

And Hanako, smiling peacefully, bowed before fading into a thousand silver blossoms.

The labyrinth was free.

The curse was broken.

Our adventure was complete.

I turned toward Tara.

"We did it. And nobody got injured!"

Behind us came a tremendous crash.

Rowan had somehow managed to fall into the collapsing tent.

Only his beautiful horns were visible above the fabric.

"I REGRET NOTHING!" he shouted.

John slowly removed his samurai helmet.

"Can we go home now?"

For the first time in five days, I agreed with him completely.

Ancient Japan had been saved. Hanako was at peace. And our magical family remained gloriously, hopelessly ridiculous.

DeNae's Handy Dandy Journal: Day five. Liberated ancient spirit. Survived enchanted labyrinth. Discovered oversized magical tent. Rowan temporarily lost beneath canvas. Mission accomplished. Sanity not guaranteed.

💚 EPILOGUE — BIG SISTERS, LITTLE SISTERS, AND A THOUSAND CHERRY BLOSSOMS
Back at Mystery Manor — DeNae's Final Reflections

There is something very comforting about returning home after five days of time travel, supernatural encounters, enchanted fruit, sacred ceremonies, and the world's most ridiculous camping experience.

For one thing, my furniture does not talk.

At least, not usually.

We arrived back at Mystery Manor beneath a shower of sparkling cherry blossoms.

John was still wearing his samurai armor.

Lala had somehow acquired an impressive assortment of Japanese keepsakes.

Julie was already organizing her research notes.

Oksana was carefully preserving the ancient scrolls.

The fairies were exhausted but delighted.

And Rowan had managed to bring home the inflatable tent.

"Absolutely not," I announced when he suggested setting it up in the living room.

"But DeNae, imagine the possibilities!"

"I am. That's precisely why I'm saying no."

Tara was standing by the window, watching the last cherry blossoms disappear into the evening air.

For once, she wasn't talking.

Naturally, I became concerned.

"Are you feeling all right?"

She smiled.

"Just thinking about Hanako."

I stood beside her.

We'd spent five extraordinary days solving a mystery that began with a simple pair of swings and ended with the healing of a very lonely heart.

I thought about all the times I'd questioned Tara's judgment.

All the times I'd rolled my eyes.

All the times I'd threatened to confiscate her Handy Dandy Journal and replace it with a nice sensible shopping list.

And then I thought about how she never gave up.

Not on Hanako.

Not on our friends.

And certainly not on the impossible.

"You did good, little sister," I told her.

She grinned.

"You mean I was right?"

"Don't push it."

She laughed, and I pulled her into a hug.

Because beneath all the chaos, the magic, and the completely questionable decisions, there is one truth I wouldn't trade for anything.

No matter where our adventures take us, or how far through time we travel, she's my little sister. And I'll always be right beside her.

Even when she drives me absolutely bonkers.

Especially then.

Across the room, John raised his teacup.

"To another successful adventure!"

Julie, Oksana, and Lala joined the toast.

The fairies sprinkled golden sparkles over our heads.

A faint shimmer appeared beside Tara, and she smiled toward the princesses only she could see.

For one beautiful moment, everything was peaceful.

Then Rowan entered carrying a scroll.

"Wonderful news, everyone! I've discovered another mysterious portal!"

I closed my eyes.

Tara gasped with excitement.

John put down his teacup.

And somewhere in the distance, I swear Hanako's spirit was laughing.

"TARA," I said slowly, "DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT."

She looked at me with those innocent green eyes.

"But DeNae..."

"NO."

"It might be fun!"

I sighed the sigh of a woman who had been an older sister for far too many adventures.

Then I reached for my Handy Dandy Journal.

Because who was I kidding?

I'd follow that ridiculous girl anywhere.

💚 THE END — UNTIL THE NEXT COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE ADVENTURE! 💚

DeNae's Final Journal Entry: Five days in ancient Japan. One mysterious spirit saved. One magnificent samurai. Several magical princesses. A flock of mischievous fairies. One uncontrollable sparkle goblin. More laughter than I can count. And one little sister I wouldn't trade for all the treasures in the world.

Although I might consider trading Rowan's inflatable tent.

Just saying. 🤣✨
