🔮 DAY 4 — “DO NOT TOUCH”
Found Item: Love Meter — Astonishing Instruments Collection
By Day Four, even Leo had noticed the pattern.
Things worked better when he left them alone.
He hated this information.
The Love Meter didn't help.
Nobody knew exactly what it measured. Its needle changed whenever someone approached.
DeNae stepped near it.
Warm glow.
Laura touched it.
Brighter.
John reluctantly put his hand against the sensor.
The needle climbed.
He frowned.
“Meaningless.”
Tara shoved him aside.
“My turn.”
The needle slammed to maximum.
“HA!”
Lala stared at her.
“Apparently Saturn has questionable taste.”
Then Leo approached.
Zero.
Tara whispered, “Saturn dumped you.”
“It is not a love detector!”
For once, Oksana agreed.
“No. It isn't.”
She began experimenting—not by opening the machine, but by watching it.
When we approached calmly, the reading rose.
When someone handled the surrounding equipment roughly, it fell.
When Leo reached toward his toolbox, it dropped almost to nothing.
Oksana finally understood.
“It measures connection.”
Leo frowned. “Between what?”
“Us and this place.”
He shook his head.
“A station doesn't care how I approach it.”
Oksana regarded him for a moment.
“You keep asking why Saturn won't obey you.”
She touched the device, and its light warmed beneath her fingers.
“Perhaps you should ask why you believe it should.”
Leo had no answer.
After a moment, he slowly set his screwdriver on the table.
The Love Meter moved.
Just slightly.
Tara pointed.
“IT LIKES YOU!”
Leo walked out.
We heard Lala call after him:
“Don't rush things. It's your first date.”
But Oksana remained beside the machine.
And beneath the floor, something glowed.

🔮 DAY 4 — DO NOT TOUCH
The Love Meter
The Love Meter liked DeNae.
It liked me.
It liked John considerably more than John thought reasonable.
“It’s meaningless,” he said.
Then Tara approached it.
The needle slammed to maximum.
“HA!”
Lala folded her arms.
“Apparently Saturn has questionable taste.”
Then Leo tried.
Zero.
Tara stared at the meter.
Then Leo.
Then the meter.
“Saturn dumped you.”
Even Leo laughed a little at that.
But Oksana was watching differently now.
She asked us to approach the device one at a time. Calmly. Gently.
The readings rose.
Someone handled the equipment roughly.
They fell.
Then Leo stepped toward it with his screwdriver.
The needle dropped.
Oksana looked at him.
“It measures connection.”
“Between what?”
“Us and this place.”
Leo frowned. “Machines don't care how they're treated.”
Oksana's voice remained gentle.
“You keep asking why the station won’t obey you. Perhaps you should ask why you believe it should.”
Nobody joked after that.
Leo looked down at the screwdriver in his hand.
Then he placed it on the table.
The needle moved.
Barely.
But it moved.
Tara gasped.
“IT LIKES YOU!”
Leo walked out.
“Don't rush things,” Lala called after him. “It's your first date.”
Everyone laughed.
I looked at Oksana.
She was staring through the floor.
Something faintly luminous ran beneath it.
Not quite a wire.
Not quite a root.
And suddenly I understood something about Oksana.
She hadn't known the answers all along.
She simply wasn't afraid to listen while she waited for them.
Maybe that's why Saturn spoke to her first.

🌱 DAY 5 — “THE MAIN DETAIL”

Item: Sharp-tongued Saturnofite

Guild: Double D’s
They found the Sharp-tongued Saturnofite behind a panel in the power room.
Its glowing tendrils ran through the walls toward the coffee maker, the generator, the robots—everything.
Leo checked the old report.
“Biological fuel.”
Tara covered the plant with both hands.
“DO NOT SAY THAT IN FRONT OF IT.”
Laura followed a pulsing root.
“It can produce fuel, but here it’s connecting the whole station. Like a nervous system.”
Leo looked at his toolbox.
Then at the plant.
“So when I disconnected the coffee maker…”
“You yanked something out of its body before breakfast,” Lala said. “I’d give you hot water too.”
Tara crouched beside a curled leaf.
“Hello, sweetheart. We’ve brought your problem back, but he’s learning.”
A tendril wrapped around her finger.
For the first time all week, Tara went completely quiet.
Julie smiled.
John checked his watch.
“Eleven seconds. That might be a record.”
The plant tugged Tara toward a root trapped beneath Leo’s equipment case.
She pointed.
Leo moved it.
The root unfurled. Lights warmed throughout the station. Somewhere upstairs, the coffee maker began brewing.
Leo closed his toolbox.
“I think it knows what it’s doing.”
A tendril patted his shoulder.
Tara’s eyes widened.
“Did you see that? It’s proud of him.”
“It’s checking for more tools,” Lala said.
At departure, the Iron Stonemason brought Leo a coffee.
PREFERRED TECHNICIAN, read the cup.
Tara received a small badge.
PREFERRED HUMAN.
She held it against her chest.
“Nobody rush me. I’m having the best day of my entire life.”
Julie counted everyone onto the ship.
“Oksana, cat. DeNae, bag. Tara—”
“I’m coming.”
“Both feet.”
A tendril still held her ankle.
Tara beamed.
“They want to keep me.”
The station’s departure screen lit up.
RETURN VISIT WELCOME.
John guided her aboard.
“Lovely. Let go of the building.”
“I’m not holding it.”
Everyone looked down.
The tendril tightened.
Lala sighed.
“Oh, terrific. There are two of her.”

🌱 DAY 5 — “THE MAIN DETAIL”
Found Item: Glowing Likodium — Biofuel Collection
We found the answer beneath the power section.
At first, I thought they were roots.
Thin luminous strands ran through cracks in the walls, wrapped around conduits and disappeared inside machines.
Glowing Likodium.
The old reports called it biological fuel.
Oksana knelt beside it.
“No,” she whispered.
The threads brightened beneath her hand.
“They aren't powering the station.”
John examined the network.
“They're connected to everything.”
Robots.
Laboratory instruments.
Doors.
Environmental controls.
Even the coffee maker.
Laura looked around us.
“It's all one system.”
Oksana nodded.
“One living system.”
There was a long silence.
Then everyone looked at Tara.
I knew this was going to be unbearable.
She slowly straightened.
“I would like everyone to remember this moment.”
John immediately said, “No.”
“I would like it entered into the official Guild record that Tara said the station was alive on Day One.”
“No.”
I already had my notebook open.
“Too late.”
Tara pointed at me triumphantly.
“Adventure. Loyalty. Trust. Documentation.”
But Leo wasn't laughing.
He was staring at his toolbox.
Every time he'd dismantled something, the Likodium had responded.
Every recalibration had forced the living network to compensate.
The impossible Projector readings hadn't been broken physics.
The system had learned to anticipate Leo.
The robot hadn't malfunctioned when it diagnosed him.
And the coffee maker…
Leo looked horrified.
Tara whispered, “You traumatized the coffee maker.”
“Tara,” I warned.
“I'm just saying.”
Leo slowly closed his toolbox.
Then we returned upstairs.
He sat at the breakfast table.
Nobody touched anything.
The coffee maker hummed.
Its lights came on.
A cup slid beneath the dispenser.
Coffee poured into it.
Perfect coffee.
The machine pushed the cup toward Leo.
He stared at it.
We stared at him.
Tara opened her mouth.
“Don't,” Leo said.
She lasted three seconds.
“It likes you now.”
Leo took a sip.
Oksana smiled.
And somewhere inside the walls, the Glowing Likodium shimmered brighter.
I wrote the last line in my notebook:
Sometimes the most important repair begins when you put down the screwdriver.
Tara leaned over my shoulder.
“Did you write that I was right?”
“Yes, Tara.”
“Specifically that I was right first?”
I sighed and picked up my pen again.

🪐 EPILOGUE
Leo claimed Saturn hadn't changed him.
Nobody believed him.
He still arrived at repair calls with an enormous toolbox. He still complained about people who broke things before reading the instructions. And “it stopped working by itself” remained an insult to everything he believed in.
But Leo developed one peculiar new habit.
Before touching anything, he watched it.
Sometimes he even asked its owner what it had been doing before it broke.
Once, he refused to repair an old radio.
“Nothing wrong with it,” he said. “It's got a personality.”
We never determined whether he was joking.
Several months later, another maintenance request arrived from Saturn.
Under PREFERRED SPECIALIST, someone—or something—had entered:
LEO.
There was only one problem.
By then, there were no people living at the research station.
When Tara heard that, she called me immediately.
“Julie.”
“No.”
“You don't even know what I'm going to say.”
“Yes, I do.”
“The coffee maker requested him.”
I hung up.
Then I called Oksana.
She listened quietly.
And when I finished, she laughed.
“Perhaps,” she said, “Leo should bring coffee beans.”
Somehow, that answer worried me much more. 🪐☕🤖🌱❤

🌱 DAY 5 — THE MAIN DETAIL
Glowing Likodium
The Likodium was beautiful.
That is what I remember first.
Not the machinery. Not Tara yelling that she had been right since Day 1.
The beauty.
Glowing strands ran through the station like veins of light. They curled around conduits, disappeared beneath floors, touched robots and instruments and environmental controls.
I followed one.
DeNae followed another with her flashlight.
John traced another into the machinery.
“They aren’t powering the station,” Oksana said.
“They’re connected to everything,” John answered.
I looked around us.
“It’s all one system.”
Oksana touched the Likodium.
The light spread outward.
“One living system.”
We all looked at Tara.
Her expression was magnificent.
“I would like everyone to remember this moment.”
“No,” John said.
“I said the station was alive on Day 1.”
Julie lifted her notebook.
“Too late.”
Tara pointed at it. “Adventure. Loyalty. Trust. Documentation.”
I laughed.
Then I saw Leo.
His toolbox was open at his feet.
For five days, every mystery had sent his hand toward it.
This time he looked at his tools.
Then at the glowing station around us.
And closed the lid.
That tiny click meant more to me than all the lights on Saturn.
Later, upstairs, we gathered around the Coffee Maker again.
Leo approached it without tools.
The machine hummed.
A cup slid forward.
Coffee.
Real coffee.
Perfect coffee.
Leo stared at it.
Oksana smiled.
Tara opened her mouth.
Leo pointed at her.
“Don’t.”
She tried.
She really did.
Three seconds.
“It likes you now.”
We laughed.
And somewhere beneath our feet, the Likodium glowed.
I thought about Tara and Oksana then.
Tara had believed before there was evidence.
Oksana had listened before there was an answer.
John had tested what he could.
Julie had recorded what happened.
DeNae had followed every practical clue.
Lala had made us laugh whenever things became too serious.
And Leo?
Leo had finally learned to leave something alone.
Maybe that was Saturn's lesson.
Not everything unfamiliar is broken.
Not everything alive speaks in words.
And sometimes the kindest thing you can do for something you don't understand is give it enough room to show you what it already knows how to be.

🪐 EPILOGUE — THE REQUEST
Leo insisted Saturn hadn't changed him.
I didn't argue.
But afterward, he watched machines before touching them.
He asked people how something behaved before deciding what was wrong with it.
And once, when someone brought him an old radio with a temperamental dial, Leo listened for a while and handed it back.
“I wouldn't repair that.”
“Why?”
Leo shrugged.
“It’s got a personality.”
Months later, the Saturn station sent another maintenance request.
There was nobody living there anymore.
Still, the request specified:
PREFERRED SPECIALIST: LEO.
Tara called Julie immediately.
“The Coffee Maker requested him.”
Julie hung up on her.
Then she called Oksana.
Oksana listened quietly.
Finally she said:
“Perhaps Leo should bring coffee beans.”
When Julie told me, I laughed.
But later that night, I found myself wondering about that empty station beneath Saturn's rings, its Likodium glowing softly through the walls, waiting for the one repairman it had finally taught not to repair it.
And I hoped Leo brought the beans. ❤

🌱 DAY 5 — THE MAIN DETAIL

We found the truth in the power section.

Naturally, it was behind a door labeled:

BIOLOGICAL FUEL — AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY.

Lala looked at me.

“That sign feels personally targeted.”

“Yes.”

“No,” John said.

We had not touched anything yet.

“I didn’t say anything.”

“You were both looking at the door.”

Oksana entered her access code.

The door opened.

And everything changed.

The room beyond was enormous.

Plants covered the walls.

Not ordinary plants.

Glowing Likodium spread across metal beams and panels like luminous ivy. Blue-green leaves unfolded beneath the station lights. Fine golden threads ran from its roots into consoles, vents, robots, pipes, laboratory instruments—

everything.

DeNae whispered, “Oh my goodness.”

Julie stepped forward slowly.

“It’s integrated into every system.”

John stared.

Not skeptically.

Just stared.

Electrical Guru rolled into the room behind us.

A strand of Likodium touched the robot’s casing.

Its lights brightened.

Another strand curled around the edge of a power conduit.

The lights overhead stabilized.

Laura smiled.

“It’s taking care of them.”

There it was.

The entire station.

Not machines connected to plants.

Not plants feeding machines.

A single living network.

The coffee maker.

The Tellurion.

The robots.

The Lava Lamp.

The power system.

All of it communicating through the Likodium.

Leo stood in the doorway with his toolbox hanging from one hand.

“You knew?”

He was looking at Oksana.

Oksana smiled.

“I suspected.”

Rowan coughed delicately.

We all looked at him.

He examined his sleeve.

I narrowed my eyes.

“How long did you know?”

“Know is such a rigid word.”

“Rowan.”

“Somewhere between arrival and before arrival.”

John rubbed his forehead.

“I need different friends.”

“No you don’t,” DeNae said, handing him trail mix.

“No, I don’t.”

Leo walked toward the central power regulator.

Several strands of Likodium flickered.

He stopped.

The flickering stopped.

He took another step.

The lights dimmed.

Leo looked at his toolbox.

Then he did something that caused every member of the Guild to fall silent.

He closed it.

Click.

The Likodium brightened.

Golden light raced through thousands of threads.

Across the room systems began activating one after another.

The power grid stabilized.

The Tellurion reset.

Electrical Guru began humming.

Somewhere far above us we heard a familiar beep.

The coffee maker.

Leo slowly looked upward.

“No.”

DeNae’s communicator chimed.

A message from the galley.

COFFEE READY — LEO.

We ran.

Yes.

We actually ran back to the kitchen.

The coffee maker was waiting.

One cup sat beneath the dispenser.

Leo approached cautiously.

The machine poured coffee.

Real coffee.

Perfect coffee.

He picked it up.

Nobody breathed.

Leo took one sip.

The coffee maker beeped softly.

Leo looked at it.

Then said:

“Thank you.”

The machine beeped again.

Lala whispered:

“He apologized.”

“I heard you.”

“I wanted you to.”

I was laughing when something bright moved beyond the observation window.

One light.

Then five.

Then dozens.

Fairies hovered outside the station glass where no fairy should possibly have been able to hover.

Behind them, farther out among Saturn’s rings, stood three tall figures of shimmering silver-white light.

Pleiadians.

One lifted her hand.

The Likodium across the station flared brilliantly.

I raised mine.

And for one breathtaking moment I felt it.

Not technology.

Not magic.

Not biology.

Something bigger.

Connection.

A station listening to its people.

Plants listening to machines.

Machines listening to plants.

Saturn listening to all of us.

Love, energy, intelligence, life—

different words for something the universe had probably understood long before we started labeling it.

John stepped beside me.

“What are you looking at?”

I smiled.

“The universe.”

He followed my gaze toward the rings.

“You see them, don’t you?”

I looked at him.

Interesting.

“That depends.”

“On what?”

“Are you finally asking?”

John stared into space for a long moment.

Then he sighed.

“I am acknowledging that this mission has expanded the range of things I am willing to consider.”

I nearly screamed.

DENAE.”

“No.”

“JOHN JUST—”

“I did not say aliens.”

“YOU BASICALLY SAID ALIENS.”

“I absolutely did not.”

Behind the glass, a Pleiadian princess was laughing.

I know what I saw.

🌱 DAY 5 — Everything Is Connected

Today we found the truth.

The plants were not fuel.

They were the station.

Glowing Likodium ran through the walls, the machinery, the power systems, the robots, the laboratory equipment. Everything we had been treating as separate was connected.

The station was not broken.

It was alive.

And suddenly the last four days made sense.

The coffee maker was reacting.

The Tellurion was compensating.

The robots were adapting.

The Lava Lamp was communicating.

Leo stood there with his toolbox open for a long time.

Then he closed it.

That may have been the most important repair he made all week.

The entire station brightened.

And later, when the coffee maker finally made him a perfect cup, he said thank you.

Quietly.

No one teased him.

Well.

Not immediately.

I watched everyone standing together in that glowing room and thought about how familiar it felt.

Different personalities. Different needs. Different ways of reacting.

All connected.

Maybe that was the lesson Saturn had been trying to teach us from the beginning.

Or maybe I have just spent too many years managing these people.

Both can be true.

FINAL STATUS REPORT:
Leo — improving, still tool-adjacent
John — has not ruled out anything and hates that
Tara — triumphant beyond reason
Lala — still provoking, but now strategically
Laura — emotionally attached to an entire living station
Julie — already has the final report alphabetized
Rowan — knew. Of course he knew.
Oksana — will never admit how much she knew
Me — everyone is fed, nobody is injured, mission successful

Overall Guild Condition: Functional enough.

🌟 EPILOGUE — PREFERRED SPECIALIST

We left Saturn three days later.

Leo insisted the mission had not changed him.

Nobody believed him.

He still carried the enormous toolbox.

Still complained about people who broke things before reading instructions.

Still considered the phrase “it stopped working on its own” a personal insult.

But we noticed something.

Before opening a machine, Leo waited.

He listened.

He asked questions.

Once, back at Guild headquarters, someone brought him an ancient radio that crackled unpredictably.

Leo watched it for nearly five minutes.

Then shook his head.

“I’m not repairing that.”

The owner blinked.

“Why?”

Leo crossed his arms.

“It isn’t broken.”

He looked at the radio.

The radio crackled.

Leo frowned.

“It’s got a personality.”

I wrote that down immediately.

John told me not to make a big deal about it.

I made a very big deal about it.

A month later another maintenance request arrived from Saturn.

Oksana placed the report on the table.

Julie opened it.

DeNae passed around coffee.

Laura smiled when she saw the station identifier.

Lala leaned over Julie’s shoulder.

John pretended not to care while clearly caring.

Rowan was already sparkling.

Julie read the assignment aloud.

REQUESTED TECHNICIAN: LEO.

Leo looked smug.

“See? They recognize professional competence.”

Julie continued.

“Preferred specialist designation entered by station maintenance authority.”

John frowned.

“Which maintenance authority?”

Julie scrolled down.

Then stopped.

There had been no human personnel stationed on Saturn for two weeks.

Silence.

Leo looked at the report.

We looked at Leo.

Somewhere across the room the Guild coffee maker beeped.

Leo slowly turned toward it.

“No.”

I opened my Handy Dandy Journal and drew a large star beside the entry.

FINAL SATURN OBSERVATION:

THE UNIVERSE IS ALIVE.

IT HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR.

AND APPARENTLY IT KEEPS A PREFERRED CONTRACTOR LIST.

Underneath that, I added:

JOHN HAS NOT CONCLUSIVELY RULED OUT ALIENS.

“Tara.”

“What?”

“Cross that out.”

“No.”

“Tara.”

“No.”

DeNae handed him a cookie.

Rowan’s glitter drifted across the page.

And somewhere beyond the windows, very far away and possibly much closer than anyone realized, three tiny silver lights blinked among the stars.

Once.

Twice.

Then three times.

I knew exactly what that meant.

The universe was waving back.
