Guild Quest. Day 1. Hyperion Hall - Aleman: Five Days Left Until The Fanfare

GUILD QUEST — 🎖🎺 ALEMAN: FIVE DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE FANFARE
Five days of preparation before the perfect ceremony—which real history decided to interfere with.
Location: Aleman, sometimes called Hyperion, ruled by General Krieg.

🚩 DAY 1 — “THE BANNER MUST HANG EVENLY”

📌 FOUND: The Standard of the Regiment—from the “Past Victories” collection

🎺🎖📜 Adrian loved ceremonies and sincerely could not understand people who called them boring. A properly organized ceremony was a masterpiece of controlled movement: every banner hung straight, the orchestra entered precisely three seconds after the signal, the medals caught the light at the correct angle, and the host's final word fell just as the doors of the great hall opened. Adrian's title was Ceremony Master, and no one became Ceremony Master of Aleman by allowing trumpeters to improvise or dignitaries to wander about searching for their assigned chairs.

In five days, Aleman would celebrate the anniversary of his most famous victory and honor the legendary General Krieg, the ruler whose name had been bound to the triumph for decades. Adrian had prepared everything in advance. All that remained was to choose the ceremonial banner, confirm a few harmless archival details, and conduct one flawless dress rehearsal. History, unfortunately, had noticed how confident he was and apparently took it as a personal challenge.

Many years later, the Explorers Guild entered the abandoned Hyperion Hall to investigate the remains of that celebration. Dust covered the platform, pale afternoon light fell across rows of empty chairs, and old portraits watched us with the severe expressions of people who had never once enjoyed a joke. Oksana pointed to a diary resting beneath the cracked glass of a display case. “We should examine that very carefully.” Lala immediately reached through the broken corner. “I am examining it carefully.” “With your eyes,” Laura warned. “My fingers have eyes of their own,” Lala replied—and touched the diary.

The hall changed around us in a single thunderous breath. Chandeliers flared to life, musicians hurried through the doors, and a tall, thin man stood on a ladder with a measuring cord clenched between his teeth. Adrian looked down at us. “You are seven minutes early,” he announced. "Excellent. I forgive you." Before we could explain that we were explorers from another time, he assigned Tara to inspect the ropes, DeNae to verify the ceremony's accounts, Julie to organize the guest list, Laura to supervise the flowers, Lala to remain three arm lengths from all historical objects, and me to ensure that she did. Oksana received no assignment. Adrian studied her for a moment and asked, “You are the person actually in charge, aren't you?” Oksana smiled. “Usually.”

Adrian's chosen relic was the Standard of the Regiment—a broad military flag divided horizontally, deep red above golden yellow. According to its museum card, General Krieg had carried it personally during the final charge at Blackstone Pass. Yet Adrian noticed a small black mark near the lower edge: the faded call sign ORISON SEVEN, written beside a field-hospital inventory stamp. A narrow strip of black fabric had also been sewn inside the yellow hem. Most troubling of all, the flag's official records claimed it had remained at Krieg's headquarters throughout the day of the battle. It could not have been at headquarters, at Saint Orison Hospital, and in General Krieg's hands at the same time—not even by Aleman's very generous standards of patriotic storytelling.

Julie examined the stitching. “This he was repaired in the field, and the black cloth came from a different flag.” Tara opened her Handy Dandy Notebook. "Possibly an alien flag. Black fabric, mysterious call sign, missing historical time—classic extraterrestrial involvement." DeNae looked at the ceremony's expense ledger. “If aliens were involved, they can help pay for the banquet.” Laura traced the faded hospital stamp without touching it. “Someone carried this from Saint Orison to the front.” Lala leaned towards the silk. “Perhaps the flag wandered there by itself.” “Please don't encourage the artifacts,” I said. “We have enough trouble when only you wander off.” Oksana watched Adrian's expression. “You've already decided not to use another banner.”

Adrian did choose another—an immaculate ceremonial flag with no stains, repairs, mysteries, or opinions. He ordered it raised, measured its position, and found it perfectly level. Then he stared at it for a long moment and told the attendants to take it down. “The wrong banner can hang perfectly and remain wrong,” he said. He demanded the Standard's archival card, then the earlier card, then the military transfer ledger the curator insisted no longer existed. The surviving record revealed that the red-and-yellow flag had been recovered at the eastern signal post—not beside General Krieg, but beside a woman from Saint Orison Hospital. Her name had been violently scratched out. Julie held the paper toward the light and found what remained beneath the ink: Élise Morin. For the first time, Adrian's ceremony was in danger of being delayed by seven minutes. He considered this extremely serious. But he carried the Standard into the archives himself, and we followed as the diary turned another page.

🎖🎺 ALEMAN: FIVE DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE FANFARE
Five days of preparation for the perfect ceremony—which history decided to interrupt.
🚩 DAY 1 — THE BANNER MUST HANG EVENLY
The Pennant Guard
Adrian found Tara standing on a chair, holding the ceremonial banner crooked.
“It was crooked when I got here,” she said.
“It is considerably more crooked now,” Adrian replied.
Double D’s Guild had been recruited to assist with Aleman’s victory celebration. Julie managed the records, John inspected the rigging, Laura handled the artifacts, Oksana reviewed the historical displays, DeNae carried emergency supplies, and Lala had been sent to keep the orchestra organized.
Tara had been assigned security.
Instead, she had discovered a conspiracy.
Beneath the old Pennant Guard, hidden against the mounting board, someone had scratched two initials—H.M.—beside the number of a long-closed field hospital.
The museum card claimed the relic had hung in General Krieg’s command tent during the famous Battle of Aleman. But Julie found an older ledger listing it among items recovered from the hospital after the fighting.
“Administrative error,” Adrian said.
“Historic cover-up,” Tara corrected.
Laura noticed coarse black thread beneath the polished purple silk. Oksana examined the repair and shook her head.
“This guard once held a different flag.”
Adrian selected another banner for the ceremony. It was clean, properly documented, and hung perfectly straight.
He stared at it for ten seconds.
“Take it down.”
The celebration was now seven minutes behind schedule.
For Adrian, this was serious.
For Tara, it was getting interesting.

🎖🎺 ALEMAN: THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE PORTRAIT
Laura’s Five Days Before the Fanfare
🚩 DAY 1 — THE BANNER MUST HANG EVENLY
The Pennant Guard
Adrian asked me to make the ceremony beautiful.
He should have been more specific.
Double D’s Guild had barely entered Aleman’s great hall when Tara climbed onto a chair to inspect a crooked banner. John steadied the chair, Julie opened the artifact ledger, and Adrian stood beneath them looking as though he had just discovered a new form of disorder.
I was examining the polished Pennant Guard when I noticed coarse black thread beneath the purple silk. The visible stitching was perfect. The hidden repair was hurried and uneven.
“Someone saved this,” I said.
Tara turned the guard over and found two scratched initials—H.M.—beside the number of an old field hospital.
The museum card said the relic had hung in General Krieg’s command tent during Aleman’s famous victory. Julie found an earlier inventory showing that it had come from the hospital.
Oksana studied the stitches. “This once held another flag.”
Adrian chose a replacement banner. It was spotless, properly documented, and perfectly straight.
Then he looked back at the damaged Pennant Guard.
“Take the replacement down.”
“We just put it up,” Lala called from the orchestra balcony.
“I am aware.”
DeNae handed Adrian the emergency pencil she had packed, and he crossed Banner Approved off his schedule.
The ceremony was now seven minutes behind.
Before we left, I wrote H.M. on a small card and tucked it beneath the relic.
I didn’t yet know whose name belonged there.
I only knew someone had cared enough to preserve the Pennant Guard—and someone else had worked very hard to forget why.

День 1
https://i.imgur.com/s103cSHm.jpeg

https://i.imgur.com/Ckr5kDgm.jpeg

Guilde To the Manor Born
Merci 🥰

✨ GUILD QUEST — 🎖🎺 ALEYMAN: FIVE DAYS LEFT BEFORE THE FANFARE

From Tara’s Handy-Dandy Journal

Five days of preparing for the perfect ceremony… until history decided it had other plans.

🌟 PROLOGUE — “WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HELP WITH A CEREMONY”

There are certain phrases that should immediately make an experienced Guild adventurer suspicious.

“Quick little assignment.”

“Nothing dangerous.”

“Just help with the preparations.”

And my personal favorite:

“This should be straightforward.”

That was how we ended up standing inside the magnificent Hyperion Hall of Aleyman five days before the anniversary celebration of the kingdom’s most famous military victory.

I opened my handy-dandy journal and wrote:

ALEYMAN QUEST — DAY ZERO
Current danger level: Supposedly none.
Actual danger level: Unknown.
Probability of secret passage: 72%.
Probability of aliens: John says zero, therefore approximately 86%.

“Why do you write things like that?” John asked over my shoulder.

I snapped the journal shut.

“Operational security.”

John stared at me.

John is a pilot. He owns an airplane. He can navigate through clouds, read complicated instruments, understand military history, repair things I didn’t even know were broken, and remain perfectly calm while six women are talking at the same time.

Yet somehow he still refuses to accept the possibility that extraterrestrials monitor important historical events.

Nobody is perfect.

Beside me, DeNae was already unpacking snacks.

“Before anyone touches ancient military artifacts,” she announced, “eat something.”

This is why my sister survives every adventure.

Julie was studying the enormous ceremonial hall with the expression she normally reserves for situations that desperately need organization.

Laura whispered, “It’s beautiful.”

Lala whispered, “It needs glitter.”

Julie turned slowly.

“No.”

“Just checking.”

At the far end of the room stood Adrian, master of ceremonies and possibly the most organized man ever born.

The banners had been measured.

The chairs had been measured.

The distance between the chairs had probably been measured.

The orchestra entrance had been timed.

The speech had been timed.

I’m fairly certain Adrian had timed himself walking between the podium and the award table.

“The orchestra enters three seconds after the signal,” he explained.

“Three exactly?” I asked.

“Yes.”

“What happens at four?”

Adrian looked horrified.

I liked him immediately.

Oksana stood nearby, smiling the mysterious little smile she gets when she knows something we don’t.

Which is always.

Our mentor has dark red hair, bright green eyes, requires approximately eleven minutes of sleep per century, and seems capable of hearing thoughts.

I looked at her.

She raised one eyebrow.

I immediately stopped thinking about hiding behind the curtains during the ceremony.

Probably.

At my feet, Rowan Sparkle Goblin inspected the marble floor.

“Old halls keep old truths,” he murmured.

That sounded important.

I wrote it down.

And then I noticed something high above the ceremonial balcony.

Three tiny lights fluttered behind a stone column.

Fairies.

Definitely fairies.

One waved.

I waved back.

John followed my gaze.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Tara.”

“Absolutely nothing.”

A second shimmer appeared beside the fairies—tall, luminous, silver-blue.

Pleiadian.

She placed one finger gently against her lips.

I nodded.

John sighed.

“You’re seeing something again.”

“Nope.”

“You’re smiling at the ceiling.”

“I appreciate architecture.”

That was when Adrian approached us carrying an old ceremonial banner.

“There is a discrepancy,” he said.

Julie straightened.

John immediately became interested.

DeNae closed the snack bag.

And Oksana smiled.

Oh.

This wasn’t going to be a ceremony quest.

This was going to be a history quest.

I opened my journal.

New danger level: historical conspiracy.

Finally.

🚩 DAY 1 — “THE BANNER SHOULD HANG STRAIGHT”

Adrian’s first objective sounded reasonable.

Choose the ceremonial banner.

Hang it straight.

Move on.

Adrian had selected several relics from Aleyman’s “Former Victories” collection, and we gathered around a long archival table while he examined each one.

“This one,” he said, lifting a magnificent old pennant. “The Pennant Guard. It was carried beside General Caelan during the decisive advance.”

John leaned closer.

Julie adjusted her glasses.

I leaned closer too because everyone else was leaning closer and I refuse to be excluded from historical discoveries.

Then I saw it.

“Wait.”

Everyone froze.

There was a dark, faded mark along the lower edge.

Not damage.

Not dirt.

Something deliberate.

“John.”

“I see it.”

“Julie?”

“I see it too.”

DeNae walked over carrying crackers.

“What are we seeing?”

“A conspiracy.”

“No.”

“A historical inconsistency.”

“Better.”

Julie carefully compared the artifact card with the markings on the cloth.

“This pennant wasn’t where the museum record says it was.”

Adrian’s face changed.

Not dramatically.

Adrian does not do dramatically.

But one eyebrow moved approximately two millimeters.

This was apparently the ceremonial equivalent of screaming.

Within twenty minutes, he had summoned the archive keeper.

Within forty minutes, we had three record boxes.

Within one hour, Julie had created a timeline.

John had found contradictions in troop positions.

DeNae had fed everyone.

Laura was carefully sorting handwritten notes.

Lala had somehow acquired a ceremonial helmet.

“Put it back,” Laura whispered.

“I’m increasing morale.”

“You’re wearing it backwards.”

“I’m increasing morale creatively.”

I wandered toward the old pennant again.

Something glittered near the torn edge.

A tiny fairy hovered there.

She pointed toward one embroidered symbol.

Then she vanished.

Interesting.

“John.”

“No aliens.”

“I didn’t say aliens.”

“You were about to.”

“I was going to say embroidery.”

He gave me the look.

I pointed at the symbol.

John examined it.

Then he went quiet.

The embroidery marked the pennant as belonging not to General Caelan’s command position…

…but to a smaller defensive unit positioned nearly two miles away.

Adrian stared at the records.

According to the official story, General Caelan had personally ordered the decisive maneuver that broke the enemy line.

But the Pennant Guard had been carried elsewhere.

Which meant someone else had been directing that part of the battle.

“We could use another banner,” Adrian said quietly.

He actually selected one.

Walked halfway to the door.

Stopped.

Turned around.

Put it back.

“We are checking the story.”

I smiled.

There he was.

Guild material.

That evening I wrote:

DAY 1 DISCOVERY:
The banner did not lie.

People did.

Or forgot.

Or simplified.

Or somebody decided history looked prettier with fewer names.

Ceremony delay: approximately seven minutes.

Adrian considers this catastrophic.

I consider it a strong beginning.

🚩 DAY 1 — DeNae’s Perspective

Adrian said we were choosing a banner.

Within an hour, the table was buried in maps, archive boxes, old records, and Tara whispering the word “conspiracy.”

So naturally, I handled the real emergency.

I fed everyone.

Crackers for Tara before she forgot food existed. Something substantial for John because he was three maps deep. Snacks beside Julie’s timeline. Food within Laura’s reach. And Lala got exactly one warning not to wear the ceremonial helmet near the dip.

By the time Adrian announced, “We are checking the story,” I had accepted two things:

The ceremony was already off schedule.

And nobody in this Guild was investigating history on an empty stomach.

📞 DAY 2 — AN INCONVENIENT LINE
The Staff Phone
By noon, Adrian’s dress coat hung over a chair and his desk had disappeared beneath headquarters reports.
The field-hospital number from the Pennant Guard led Double D’s Guild to an old Staff Phone stored in the military archive.
John removed its back panel and found a repair plate bearing the same hospital number.
“This telephone was connected to the field line during the battle,” he said. “Briefly—but long enough.”
Julie uncovered the switchboard log. At 2:07 p.m., a nurse named Élise Morin had called with a warning: the enemy’s retreat was a trap, and an attack was coming through the northern pass.
Headquarters dismissed the message. The commanding officers had orders to hold their position.
But Captain Marc Varen, a junior staff officer, believed her. He redirected the reserve force without authorization.
The official history credited that order to General Krieg.
It had never mentioned Varen.
From somewhere down the corridor came the same eight bars of ceremonial music, repeated for what felt like the hundredth time.
“The orchestra has begun without you,” Lala announced from the doorway.
Adrian checked his watch in disbelief.
“Who authorized that?”
“I did. They were becoming emotional.”
Behind her, DeNae passed sandwiches to everyone who had forgotten lunch. Oksana quietly placed the switchboard log beside Adrian’s prepared speech.
One handwritten line had been underlined twice:
CALLER REFUSES TO DISCONNECT. SAYS MEN WILL DIE.
Adrian looked at the telephone.
Then at his schedule.
“Cancel the afternoon rehearsal.”
Lala smiled. “Now the orchestra is going to think you’re emotional.”

📞 DAY 2 — AN INCONVENIENT LINE
The Staff Phone
The next morning, Double D’s Guild followed the hospital number into the headquarters archive.
John found the old Staff Phone and connected it to a temporary line. Lala took the other receiver.
“Headquarters,” she answered. “State your emergency and whether it can wait until after lunch.”
Adrian closed his eyes.
Julie and I reconstructed the calls from the switchboard log. At 2:07 p.m. on the day of the battle, a field nurse named Élise Morin had warned headquarters that the enemy’s retreat was a trap.
The senior officers refused to act.
A note in the margin read:
CALLER WILL NOT DISCONNECT. SAYS MEN WILL DIE.
I imagined Élise gripping that receiver while wounded soldiers crowded the hospital around her.
John traced the line to Captain Marc Varen, a junior staff officer who finally took her call. Varen believed the warning and moved the reserves without authorization.
The official history credited that order to General Krieg.
It never mentioned Varen—or Élise.
I wrote both names on cards and placed them beside H.M.
From the courtyard came eight familiar bars of ceremonial music.
“The orchestra has started without you,” Tara told Adrian.
He checked his watch. “That has never happened.”
“Neither has finding the real battle plan in a telephone log,” Julie said.
Adrian removed his dress coat and pulled another stack of records toward him.
“Cancel the rehearsal.”
Lala picked up the telephone again.
“Headquarters,” she said. “We have lost the ceremony.”
For the first time, Adrian did not correct her.
